The Pacific Karate Do Institute.
The Peaceful Way of Karate. Mr. David Krieger Sensei founded The Pacific Karate Do Institute PKI in Montecito, CA in 1974 It is dedicated to transmitting the highest ideals of Karate-Do, both in spirit and technique. Pacific refers orientation toward life. The Pacific is the greatest of the world oceans. It links the east where karate was born and nourished and the west where karate has been transplanted and continues to thrive. At the same time the Pacific is broad and deep, powerful and serene. As an orientation toward life, Pacific refers to a peaceful state of deep serenity. It is a fitting adjective to describe Karate at its best, even though many people continue to treat Karate as brutal, aggressive and mean. The value of Karate lies what it can do for the individual. To provide a mean person with new forms of brutality is hardly an accomplishment in a world where far more potent weapons than empty hands are readily available. But to provide an average person with the means to gain both power and serenity in his or her own life is an achievement of great value, and the goal of the Pacific Karate Do Institute. Mr. David Krieger Sensei began studying traditional Shito Ryu Karate Do in 1963 under Master Shojiro Tani (Shuko-Kai) in Kobe, Japan a direct student of the founder of Shito Ryu Karate Great Grand Master Kenwa Mabuni. Mr. Krieger Sensei co-founded the International Karate Do Federation IKF, with Mr. Shuzo Kotaka Sensei in Hawaii. He has been the martial arts instructor at University of Hawaii, captain of the All-Hawaii karate team, and top tournament competitor. He has written widely on karate spirit and philosophy. He founded the Nuclear age peace foundation and is the president for this Organization in Santa Barbara, CA. Mr. David Krieger Sensei is a successful lawyer in Santa Barbara, he lives with his lovely family in Santa Barbara, CA.
